The Soutpansberg mountains host a tremendous variety of birds and still have well-developed tracts of indigenous forests, including afro-montane mistbelt forest which is home to some of South Africa’s most special birds including the Black-Fronted Bush-Shrike, Blue-Spotted Wood-Dove and Orange Ground Thrush.
In the low lying areas numerous dams and wetlands provide a host of waterbirds and the entire Soutpansberg is extremely picturesque for landscape photography. Given the diversity of opportunities it is well worth investing in a knowledgeable guide to show you around.
